Hi — Not sure if you know about it already, but the Center for Black Literature at Medgar Evers College is hosting the National Black Writers Conference on March 30th. This year, the focus is on Toni Cade Bambara, who died in 1995 of cancer but has been called a major contributor to the emerging genre of contemporary black womenβs literature along with the writers Toni Morrison and Alice Walker. Ms. Bambara was celebrated for the non-linear structure of her plots and her ability to weave black dialects into her stories about men and women living in black neighborhoods in big cities or small Southern towns. I’d be happy to send you (and your readers) more information.

I just ran across your blog while looking for African American, mother-daughter memoirs. I absolutely love it! The content is wonderful. And the blog lay-out and colors are fabulous too! I already re-posted one of the blogs from 2008. (A good memoir is timeless.) If you know of any African American, mother-daughter memoirs, please let me know. I am writing one and I need to know if there are any, old or new. Thanks again for your post.
